Monet Smith
Personal Profile
Monet Smith joined Nelson Griffin as a law clerk in October 2024. She is a third-year law student at Southwestern Law School graduating in May 2025. She grew a sense of advocacy during her high school years and after gaining an insight of the legal realm, she knew litigation was her calling. Monét’s legal interest includes Litigation in: Intellectual Property, Entertainment, and Venture Capital. She also has a passion for Criminal law and plans to provide Pro Bono service for Criminal Defense in the future. Monét’s long term goal is to be a Judge.
Before law school, Monet acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Arizona State University. Monét also acquired a Master of Legal Studies with an emphasis in Criminal law and Business law from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. While attending law school, Monét was a Student Editor for the Journal of International Media and Entertainment Law; she was a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judge Alexander C.D. Giza for the Superior Court of California, and the Honorable Presiding Justice Kathleen O’Leary for the California Court of Appeal, 4th District. Monét also started as a Legal Intern for a boutique employment firm. Currently, she is the President of the Black Law Students Association on her law school campus, and she serves as the Chief of Staff for the Western Region Black Law Students Association.
